Raleigh, North Carolina (PRWEB) September 27, 2013

Throughout this past month the Raleigh Police Department has made moves toward the creation of a Wake County DWI task force. This task force is being created with the sole purpose of catching, stopping, and arresting those who have taken it upon themselves to consume inhibiting substances before getting behind the wheel. Now that the highly successful ‘Booze it or Lose it’ campaign has been drawn to a close, the Raleigh police are revamping their resources to create a more permanent solution to the abundance of DWI infractions occurring in the Wake County area. Due to the increased attention to North Carolina DWI Law drivers should be thinking twice before getting behind the wheel after consuming any amount of alcohol.

Attorney Moseley Matheson, a DWI lawyer for a North Carolina DWI Law Office in downtown Raleigh comments, “Wake County drivers need to be aware of the substantial consequences that come with these arrests and immediately contact a criminal attorney to consult on their case. The job of the officers on this task force is to keep the roadways safe and procure convictions. However, it is left up to the defense attorneys to protect the drivers rights and get them the best possible outcomes.”

According to an article published on September 13, 2013 by WRAL News this new task force should be active before the year is out. To prove how serious they are about cracking down on drinking and driving the Raleigh police department has applied for a grant totaling at about $ 500,000 to get this new task force on the ground and running. The Raleigh police officers are already making 1500 arrests a year, give or take a few, just on DWI infractions. About 250 of those arrests this past year came the the ‘Booze it or Lose it’ campaign enacted by the Wake County police system. If you’re going by precedence, the more resources the police department is able to put into stopping and arresting drivers under the influence the more arrests they can make and the safer our roadways become.

A Raleigh Criminal Attorney, Moseley Matheson, had this to say in regard to the creation of this new task force, “It comes as no surprise to me as DWI lawyer that the Raleigh Police Department would be creating a new task force with the sole focus of stopping the frequency of Wake County DWI cases. From all the cases our firm intakes on a daily basis, the most abundant are the DWI cases. As such it comes as no real shock that the city of Raleigh would move to take action against this and having a DWI task force in place a logical next step.” The hope is that this task force will rise to meet the challenge and that the Wake County area will see a substantial decrease in the number of DWI charges in the years to come.
